After a long hiatus, Çubuklu-İstinye car ferry services, one of Istanbul's vital transportation lines, are set to resume in October, according to a statement by Beykoz Deputy Mayor Özlem Vural Gürzel. This critical route, which was suspended last year due to rising costs, holds significant importance for local residents and drivers.
Çubuklu-İstinye Line Back in Service
Beykoz Deputy Mayor Özlem Vural Gürzel announced the good news that Çubuklu-İstinye car ferry services will resume in October, following approximately one year of work. Gürzel thanked everyone involved in the project's completion, stating, "It's not about who did it, but about our Beykoz winning. We will all rejoice together on the day our car ferry services restart." This development will provide great convenience, especially for residents and workers living and working around Çubuklu Pier and İstinye Pier.
The Çubuklu-İstinye Line: Past to Present
The Çubuklu-İstinye car ferries, operated by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Şehir Hatları, previously ran 46 round trips daily on weekdays between the Sarıyer and Beykoz districts. However, these services were halted last year due to rising operating costs. Although sea taxis began operating on the same route after the line's closure, they could not fully replace the car ferries, which offer vehicle transport.
What Should Passengers Do?
A precise date and schedule for the resumption of services in October have not yet been announced. It is crucial to follow official announcements from Şehir Hatları and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM). Passengers and drivers are advised to regularly check Şehir Hatları's official website or announcement channels for up-to-date information on departure times, ticket prices, and other details. This will help prevent any disruptions to planned journeys.
Importance of the Çubuklu-İstinye Line
This line is a strategic alternative for drivers wishing to cross between the European and Anatolian sides with their vehicles, especially during peak Istanbul traffic, saving both time and fuel. The reactivation of the Çubuklu-İstinye line will strengthen the region's transportation network and simplify daily life. Furthermore, the reopening of this line will also bring environmental benefits associated with sea transport.
