Due to the marathon to be held in Istanbul on Sunday, November 1, Şehir Hatları will implement cancellations and adjustments to some ferry services. Passengers planning to travel by sea between the European and Anatolian sides should check the latest announcements before their journey. These changes are part of the general transportation restrictions imposed by the marathon.
Ferry Service Cancellations Due to Marathon
According to the announcement by Şehir Hatları, some ferry services will not operate on Sunday, November 1, due to the marathon. This situation requires alternative planning, especially for citizens using Istanbul's busy sea routes.
- Some services on the Kadıköy-Karaköy-Eminönü line have been cancelled. Attention to passengers traveling in the Eminönü - Kadıköy and Kadıköy - Eminönü directions.
- Some services on the Üsküdar-Karaköy-Eminönü line have been cancelled. Passengers departing from Üsküdar Pier are advised to check the current status.
- Some services on the Kadıköy-Beşiktaş line have been cancelled. Alternatives should be considered for travel between Kadıköy Pier and Beşiktaş Pier.
- Some services on the Kabataş-Princes' Islands line have been cancelled. Attention to passengers traveling from Kabataş Pier towards the Princes' Islands.
To prevent passenger inconvenience, travelers must confirm current service information from Şehir Hatları's official website or announcement channels before making their travel plans. The most accurate information regarding whether additional services will be provided in place of cancelled ones, or alternative routes, can be obtained directly from the operator.
Other Public Transportation Adjustments
The marathon will affect not only ferry services but also other public transportation vehicles in Istanbul:
- The 15 Temmuz Şehitler Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic on Sunday, November 1, between 03:00 and 15:00. This will cause disruptions, especially to Metrobus services.
- Metrobus services will not operate between Zincirlikuyu and Söğütlüçeşme stations during the marathon. For crossings to the Anatolian Side, IETT buses using the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge route or rail systems are recommended.
- Adjustments are also in place for the T1 Kabataş-Bağcılar Tram Line:
- Normal service will operate between 06:00 and 07:00.
- Between 07:00 and 17:00, trams will only operate between Bağcılar and Beyazıt stations; services between Beyazıt and Kabataş will not be available.
Free Transportation for Marathon Participants
A special arrangement will also be implemented for athletes and officials participating in the marathon. On Sunday, November 1, between 06:00 and 17:00, individuals showing their bib number or official pass will be able to use Istanbul's public transportation lines free of charge.
In general, all citizens using public transportation in Istanbul on Sunday, November 1, are strongly advised to consider these adjustments when making their travel plans and to evaluate alternative routes for possible delays or cancellations.
