While Şehir Hatları sea services switched to their winter schedule from September 7, 2026; İETT and Metro Istanbul began operating their winter timetables from Monday, September 14, 2026. Additionally, a special 1 TL subscription support for students starting the new academic year has been announced.
Winter Schedule for Şehir Hatları Ferry Services
Şehir Hatları, a vital part of Istanbul's maritime transport, announced that its winter schedule commenced on September 7, 2026, and will provide uninterrupted service until June 27, 2027. Ferry services between the Bosphorus, Golden Horn, Anatolian, and European Side piers have been updated in line with passenger demand, offering more frequent and regular connections. Special 1 TL Subscription Support for Students
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has announced significant support to alleviate transportation costs for students embarking on the new academic year. According to official information from İETT, all students who top up their Istanbulkart subscriptions between September 21 and October 17, 2026, will be able to benefit from a 1-month student subscription package by paying only 1 TL. This initiative aims to directly contribute to student budgets across the city.
Winter Season Services for İETT and Metro Istanbul
The winter service schedule for urban road and rail transport also commenced on Monday, September 14, 2026. İETT aims to meet passenger demand by increasing the number of vehicles and service frequency on busy routes. Current service plans can be accessed via İETT's official website, iett.istanbul, and the "Where is My Bus?" application. Metro Istanbul has maintained fixed first and last train departure times while reorganizing train frequencies throughout the day according to passenger density. Rail system passengers can access current timetables from information boards at stations and through digital channels.
Current Istanbul Public Transport Fares (As of July 20, 2026)
Public transport fares across Istanbul have been in effect since July 20, 2026, by decision of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipal Council. Accordingly, current fare tariffs for different transport modes and card types are as follows:
Single-Journey Ticket Fares
- Single-journey full fare for İETT buses, Private Public Buses, nostalgic funicular, nostalgic tram, and Metro Istanbul lines: 46.20 TL
- Standard student card users per tap: 22.55 TL
- Student card holders aged 30 and over: 41.58 TL
- Social card holders (including teachers and those aged 60 and over): 33.08 TL
Transfer Fares
The tiered transfer system in public transport offers passengers cost advantages for consecutive journeys. Istanbulkart transfer fares:

- First transfer: 34.40 TL
- Second transfer: 26.42 TL
- Third, fourth, and fifth transfers: 17.18 TL
