Badalan - Tekirdağ Ferry Route (Return)
This new reciprocal route operating from Marmara Island's Badalan Pier to Tekirdağ Ceyport Port is the first RO-RO connection used for a direct return from Badalan, the southern village of Marmara Island, to the Thrace side. The journey takes approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes (200 minutes). The operator is Marmara RoRo Kooperatifi.
This newly opened route is an alternative escape point for families wanting to avoid the Sunday return crowds at the Marmara village pier. By driving an extra 30-40 minutes on the island, you can return to Tekirdağ on a less crowded vessel.
Journey Details
- Duration: 3 hours 20 minutes (200 minutes)
- Type: Mixed (passenger + vehicle + RO-RO cargo)
- Operator: Marmara RoRo Kooperatifi

Sunday Return Strategy: Marmara or Badalan?
Sunday returns from Marmara village sell out 3-4 weeks in advance during the summer. If you cannot find a ticket departing from Marmara village, you can drive 30-40 minutes across the island and return from Badalan. Advantages:
- As a new route, availability is much easier to find
- The ship is less crowded (comfortable seating)
- Extra discounts are possible for AdaKart holders on Sunday returns
Estimated Ticket Price Range
- Passenger: 280-440 TL
- Car: 1,350-2,100 TL
- Motorcycle: 470-720 TL
- Caravan: 2,800-4,900 TL
- AdaKart discount: 10-25% (+ 5-10% opening campaign)
Arrival Connections in Tekirdağ
- Istanbul European Side: 1.5-2 hours (D-100 highway)
- Edirne / Bulgarian border: 1.5-2 hours
- Greek border (Ipsala): 1 hour 45 minutes
- Şarköy wine region: 45 minutes
Seasonal Considerations
Summer season: A great alternative to Marmara village for Sunday return vacationers. Low volume on weekdays.
Winter season: Low frequency (2-3 times a week); predominantly local drivers. High risk of cancellation if there is a Lodos (southwestern wind) warning.
Alternative Routes
- Marmara - Tekirdağ (195 min) — the island's main pier
- Badalan - Erdek (75 min) — road connection to Thrace via Erdek
- Saraylar - Tekirdağ (180 min) — alternative from the northern pier
Onboard Comfort
Since this is a new route, the 3-hour and 20-minute return journey is moderately full; it is not as crowded as Marmara village, especially on Sunday returns. An air-conditioned passenger lounge, open observation deck, and a snack bar are available. Highly recommended for families with children and those seeking a quiet journey.
RO-RO Departure Notes
- Vehicle queue at Badalan pier: Not heavily congested as it is a new route; arriving 60 minutes prior is sufficient.
- Fuel: There are gas stations in Marmara village and Saraylar on the island; 30-50 minutes from Badalan.
- Tekirdağ arrival: Gas stations, trucker restaurants, and parking are available at the port exit.
After Disembarking in Tekirdağ
Tekirdağ Ceyport Port is 10-15 minutes from the city center. At the port exit, a meatball (köfte) break, the coastal park, and Atatürk House offer a short excursion. Road connections to Istanbul, Edirne, and the Bulgarian border are very fast.
