Lesvos–Akçay Ferry Services Start on July 17, 2026
The highly anticipated direct maritime route between the popular Edremit Gulf resort of Akçay and the North Aegean's largest Greek island, Lesvos (Mytilini), finally has a launch date. The first voyage will take place on July 17, 2026, and the route will be operated by BADO – Balıkesir Deniz Otobüsleri. For reservations and information, you can call 0850 307 8010.
The route is passenger-only and will operate with a special summer schedule. With all ministerial approvals (Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, and Ministry of Trade/Customs) completed, this route opens a new direct gateway to the Greek islands for Edremit Gulf tourism.

Visa and Passport Requirements
Lesvos is part of Greece and the Schengen Area. Turkish citizens can benefit from a visa-on-arrival for short tourist visits to the island. Since this is an international maritime border crossing, a valid passport (with at least 6 months validity from the date of arrival) is mandatory. Akçay Port and Lesvos
Akçay is a popular holiday resort on the northern coast of the gulf, located in the Edremit district of Balıkesir. It is easily accessible by road from İzmir, Çanakkale, and Balıkesir. Across the water, Lesvos is an authentic destination renowned for its olive oil, ouzo, the town of Molyvos, and its petrified forest.
