Port Guide

Badalan Pier (Marmara Island)

Badalan Pier is a newly built RO-RO pier located right next to Badalan village on the south-central coast of Marmara Island. Previously accessible only by sea taxis and small fishing boats, Badalan has gained regular ferry connections with the opening of this new pier. The pier serves the Tekirdağ and Erdek routes operated by the Marmara RoRo Cooperative.

New Route and Island Development

Badalan Pier is the new development hub planned for the economic and touristic revitalization of Marmara Island. With the pier reaching full capacity operations in the 2025-2026 season:

  • Investments in aparthotels and boutique guesthouses have accelerated.
  • Caravan camping areas have been designated.
  • Seaside restaurants have become active during the summer season.
  • Organic agricultural tourism (olive oil, honey, small-scale wine producers) is developing.
  • Trekking and nature photography routes have been opened.

It has become an ideal spot for families seeking a quiet holiday away from the crowds of Marmara village and Avşa, as well as for caravan holidaymakers.

Pier Location and Geography

Badalan Pier is situated in a small cove on the south-central coast of Marmara Island. Advantages include:

  • Sheltered from northern winds as it opens to the south.
  • One of the shortest routes from Erdek (75 min).
  • A 30-40 minute drive to Marmara village (an alternative entry point).
  • Close to the vineyards of Asmalı (15 minutes).
  • A starting point for trekking routes.

Facilities

As a newly built pier, the infrastructure is modern but still in the development phase:

  • Waiting area: A small, modern, air-conditioned terminal building.
  • Ticket office: Marmara RoRo Cooperative ticket counter.
  • Restrooms: New and clean.
  • Cafeteria: Active during the summer season; limited menu.
  • Parking: New, with a capacity of 100-150 vehicles.
  • Caravan park: Designated camping areas around the pier.

  • Electrical connection: Available for a limited number of caravans.
  • Wheelchair access: Modern ramp infrastructure.
  • ATM: None; the nearest ATM is in Marmara village (30-40 min).
  • Pharmacy: Limited in the village; if needed, you must go to Marmara village.

  • Asmalı village: 15 minutes.
  • Topağaç village: 25 minutes.
