Gökçeada Port (Kuzu Port) is the island's main maritime transport hub. It is located about 30 minutes from the island center (Çınarlı/Merkez). The port area features car rental offices and minibus connections.
Serving as the main gateway to Gökçeada—home to Çanakkale's unique natural beauties, pristine bays, and historic Greek villages—Gökçeada Port (also known as Kuzu Port) is the most critical and bustling hub for the island's maritime transport. All passenger, vehicle, and commercial cargo traffic from the mainland to Gökçeada, Turkey's largest island, passes through this port. Situated in a strategic and sheltered location in the cool waters of the North Aegean Sea, this port is the lifeblood of the island's tourism potential and local economy.
Gökçeada Port is located at the easternmost tip of the island, facing the exit of the Dardanelles Strait. The transport infrastructure to the port, which is about 30 minutes away from the island center (Çınarlı), is highly developed and convenient. Seamless transportation from the center to the port is provided by district minibuses and taxis that operate fully integrated with ferry arrival and departure times. Additionally, thanks to the car rental offices located at and around the port exit, you can rent your own private vehicle as soon as you set foot on the island, joining a comfortable transport network to freely explore the island's hidden bays.
Historically an important center for maritime activities in the Aegean, Gökçeada has reached its current massive tourism and logistics potential through the expansion and modernization of Kuzu Port over the years. Once a modest area where only small fishing boats and passenger motorboats docked, the port has now reached a modern capacity to simultaneously accommodate giant Ro-Ro ships, large car ferries, and commercial cargo vessels. This major development has strengthened Gökçeada's connection to the Çanakkale mainland and played a leading role in the export of the island's agricultural products and its cultural development.
Regular and safe voyages are organized from Gökçeada Port mainly to the Çanakkale mainland. The busiest, most popular, and primary route is the line operating between Gökçeada (Kuzu Port) and Kabatepe (Eceabat). Car ferries and passenger ferries operated by GESTAŞ, Çanakkale's official maritime transport company, run regularly on this route throughout the year, weather permitting. During the summer months and public holidays, the number of voyages is significantly increased to smoothly manage the heavy influx of tourists to the island.
From the moment you step off the ferry and set foot on the island from the port, many beauties await you. Kuzu Port Beach is located right next to the port and is a wonderful, clean alternative for swimming while waiting for the ferry or as soon as you arrive on the island. Heading towards the island center, you can visit historic Greek villages such as Kaleköy, Zeytinliköy, Bademli, and Tepeköy; you can taste the island's famous dibek coffee and mastic pudding in a historical atmosphere. Additionally, for windsurfing enthusiasts, the world-famous Aydıncık (Kefalos) Beach is a unique stop in the south of the island.
