İstanbul, Adalar — İstanbul
Heybeliada Pier is the central hub of Heybeliada. It serves as the main gateway to the island, which is renowned for the Halki Seminary, pine forests, and tranquil beaches.
As one of the greenest and most peaceful stops of Istanbul's Princes' Islands, Heybeliada Pier is located in the Adalar district, the pearl of the Sea of Marmara. Serving as the exact center of Heybeliada, this historic pier is the first welcoming point for local and international tourists stepping onto the island. With its strategic location, it is not just a transportation hub, but the main gateway to an island known for the Halki Seminary, pine forests, and tranquil beaches. The vibrant life gathered around the pier is the first place you will begin to feel the island's unique atmosphere.
Heybeliada Pier is situated on the northeastern coast of the island, along the shoreline of the Heybeliada neighborhood in Istanbul's Adalar district. Since motorized vehicles are banned on the island, access is provided exclusively by sea. You can easily reach the island via Şehir Hatları ferries, as well as Mavi Marmara and Turyol passenger boats departing from the mainland piers of Kabataş, Beşiktaş, Eminönü, Kadıköy, and Bostancı. After reaching the main mainland piers using the metro, bus, or Marmaray within Istanbul, a pleasant ferry ride will bring you to Heybeliada.
Along with the Şehir Hatları ferry services dating back to the 19th century, Heybeliada Pier has played a key role in the island's sociocultural and economic development. During the Ottoman era, the presence of the Naval High School (Bahriye Mektebi) and the operation of the famous Halki Seminary ensured that the pier remained a busy and significant transit point in every period. Today, the pier building, which preserves its historical texture, continues to be one of the island's symbols with its nostalgic architecture, contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage.
Heybeliada Pier is equipped to meet all the basic needs of passengers:
Regular services operate from this pier to main arteries on both the European and Asian sides of Istanbul. Şehir Hatları operates the Kabataş - Kadıköy - Adalar and Bostancı - Adalar ring routes. Additionally, there are reciprocal services throughout the day to Büyükada, Burgazada, and Kınalıada. It is also possible to travel directly or with transfers to routes like Kartal, Maltepe, and Eminönü using private passenger boats (Mavi Marmara, Dentur, Turyol).
As soon as you step off the pier, you are greeted by famous seafood restaurants, ice cream parlors, and historic cafes lined up along the coast. The island's most important historical structure, the Halki Seminary, and the İsmet İnönü House Museum are within walking distance. For nature enthusiasts, Değirmenburnu Nature Park offers picnics and seaside enjoyment, while Çam Limanı Bay promises a tranquil swimming experience. Furthermore, the Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar Museum is a cultural stop very close to the pier that literature lovers must visit.
