Port Guide

1. About Mudanya Pier

As one of the most critical maritime transport hubs in the Marmara Region, Mudanya Pier is a main artery for passenger traffic between Bursa and Istanbul. Operated by BUDO (Bursa Sea Buses), a subsidiary of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, this terminal enables thousands of passengers to cross between continents and cities every day. Serving as the maritime gateway to Bursa—a city of industry, history, and tourism—the pier is not just a transit hub but a living space intertwined with Mudanya's historical charm.

In the past, travel between Istanbul and Bursa typically involved long road trips or transfers via Yalova. With the modernization of Mudanya Pier and the launch of BUDO services, travel times have been significantly reduced. Today, with voyage durations averaging between 1 hour 30 minutes and 1 hour 50 minutes, passengers can cross the Sea of Marmara comfortably without getting stuck in traffic. In line with the sea bus concept, the pier focuses exclusively on foot passenger transport; vehicle ferry services are not available. 2. Location and General Features

Mudanya Pier is located right in the heart of Mudanya, Bursa's coastal district, along the Mudanya Coast (Kordon). Situated at coordinates 40.3756000°N latitude and 28.8825000°E longitude, the terminal stands out with its waterfront location and surrounding social amenities. The moment you step out of the pier, you are greeted by the scent of the sea, historic waterfront mansions, and walking paths stretching along the coastline.

The terminal building is designed to ensure fast and safe passenger circulation. The arrival and departure lounges are independent of each other. The waiting lounge, which maximizes natural daylight through its large glass facades, offers a spacious environment for passengers. The large square right in front of the pier is organized as a waiting and departure point for urban public transport vehicles (buses and minibuses). This integrated structure makes the transition from sea travel to land travel seamless.

3. Which Routes Operate Here?

Serving as BUDO's main operational center, Mudanya Pier provides direct connections to strategic points on both the European and Asian sides of Istanbul. While additional voyages are scheduled to meet the increased passenger demand during the summer timetable (May-September), departure times and frequencies are updated for the winter timetable (October-April). 4. Transportation to Bursa

One of the strongest aspects of Mudanya Pier is its integrated public transport network connecting to the Bursa city center and other districts. BURULAŞ, the transportation company of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, operates bus lines synchronized with the sea bus departure times.

Bus and Metro (Bursaray) Integration: The fastest way to get to the Bursa city center from the pier is to take the 1/M bus to the Emek Metro Station. The journey takes about 20-25 minutes, depending on traffic. By taking the Bursaray (metro) from Emek Station, you can reach various parts of the city such as Osmangazi, Şehreküstü, Nilüfer, and Kestel with the comfort of a rail system.

Direct Bus Lines: If you prefer not to transfer to the metro or are heading to different locations, you can opt for other yellow buses departing from the pier. The F/3 line goes directly from Mudanya Pier to the Teleferik (Cable Car) area (the starting point for ascending Uludağ). The F/1 line provides uninterrupted transport to the Bursa Intercity Bus Terminal.

Airport Transportation: Passengers wishing to go to Bursa Yenişehir Airport or Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport can travel to the Bursa Intercity Bus Terminal (via the F/1 bus) and use the BBBUS buses departing from there.

Taxi and Private Vehicle: There is an official taxi stand providing 24/7 service right at the terminal exit. To drive to the Bursa city center by private vehicle, simply follow Mudanya Boulevard; the distance is approximately 30 kilometers and takes about 35-40 minutes under normal conditions.

5. Port Facilities

Various facilities are available at Mudanya Pier to meet passengers' needs before and after their journey. For ticketing, there are BUDO ticket counters and self-service ticket machines at the terminal entrance. To get up-to-date information on ticket pricing, you can review our Ferry Prices page.

The waiting lounge is air-conditioned and features an adequate number of seats for passengers. Inside the lounge, a cafe/kiosk serves hot and cold beverages, snacks, and sandwiches. Additionally, thanks to the free Wi-Fi network, passengers can connect to the internet and use power outlets to charge their devices.

The pier is fully accessible for passengers with disabilities. Ramps for wheelchair users, accessible restrooms, and escort assistance from staff during boarding are among the standard procedures. There are both municipal and privately operated open and closed parking areas around the pier.

7. Mudanya Pier Travel Tips

There are some important points that passengers using Mudanya Pier should keep in mind. Tickets are issued personally; therefore, presenting an ID at the ticket counter or during boarding is mandatory. Especially during the summer months, Friday evenings, and Sundays, passenger volume is very high, so it is highly recommended to reserve your tickets online or via the call center a few days in advance.

The Lodos wind, which is particularly effective in the Sea of Marmara during winter and spring, can directly impact sea bus schedules. In case of adverse weather conditions, voyage cancellations may occur. Therefore, checking the weather forecast before setting off and following our Current Announcements page for possible changes will prevent any inconvenience. In case of cancellations, ticket refunds or open ticket conversions can be quickly processed at BUDO counters and through the online system.
