İzmir, Konak — İzmir · 1 active ferry route
Üçkuyular Pier is the southern terminal of İzmir's only car ferry line. It provides vehicle access to the northern side of the gulf via the Bostanlı ferry route.
As one of the most critical maritime transport points connecting the two shores of the Gulf of İzmir, Üçkuyular Pier is a strategic terminal located on the city's southern axis, significantly easing vehicle traffic. Although located within the borders of the Konak district, its location also directly serves the Balçova and Karabağlar districts. It is the southern hub of İzmir's only car ferry line. Operated by İZDENİZ (İzmir Maritime Operations), the terminal allows thousands of pedestrian and vehicle passengers to cross quickly, safely, and comfortably to the Karşıyaka region on the northern side of the gulf every day.
In a large metropolis built around a gulf like İzmir, driving around the gulf by road causes a serious loss of time, especially during morning and evening rush hours. Üçkuyular Pier steps in exactly at this point, shifting the traffic load on Mustafa Kemal Sahil Boulevard and Altınyol to the sea route. With ramps suitable for modern car ferries to dock, wide vehicle waiting areas, and turnstile systems designed for pedestrian passengers, the pier offers one of the most successful examples of İzmir's integrated public transportation network. Among All Piers in Turkey, it is one of the points with the highest volume in urban vehicle transportation.
Üçkuyular Pier is located at the end of İzmir's southern coastline, very close to the intersection of Mustafa Kemal Sahil Boulevard and the İzmir-Çeşme Highway connection. Situated at coordinates 38.3997000°N, 27.0722000°E, the pier is an ideal transfer center for both those coming from the city center and those coming from peninsula districts like Urla, Çeşme, and Seferihisar who want to cross to the northern shore.
The architectural structure of the pier is designed to efficiently manage heavy vehicle traffic. Vehicles passing through the toll booths are kept waiting in wide lanes numbered according to the ship's capacity. At the same time, there is a separate terminal building, a waiting lounge, and open recreation areas with gulf views for pedestrian passengers. İzmir Marina, located right next to the terminal, is an important neighboring facility that supports the maritime culture and social life of the region. The pier is built to fully accessible standards so that passengers with disabilities can easily use both the terminal building and board the ships.
Üçkuyular Pier hosts a single but extremely busy route that serves a specific purpose and connects two main arteries of İzmir. Ships departing from this terminal travel directly to Bostanlı Pier on the opposite side of the gulf. Modern, eco-friendly, and high-capacity car ferries in the İZDENİZ fleet provide uninterrupted service on this line.
Travel time on this line takes an average of 30 minutes, depending on weather and sea conditions. The ships accept both vehicles (cars, motorcycles, bicycles, light commercial vehicles) and pedestrian passengers. There are some important details that will make your journey smoother when using Üçkuyular Pier. Ferry services in İzmir operate on two different schedules: summer and winter. While the frequency of services is increased during the summer schedule covering May-September, the intervals between services may be kept wider during the winter months between October and April. Especially between 07:30 - 09:30 in the morning and 17:00 - 19:30 in the evening, vehicle queues may lengthen due to commuting traffic. If you are traveling during these hours, it is recommended to arrive at the pier at least 20-30 minutes before your planned departure.
The Gulf of İzmir can be exposed to harsh lodos (southwesterly) winds, especially in winter. Since severe lodos negatively affects maritime traffic, trip cancellations may occur for safety purposes. Before setting off, you should definitely check the weather forecast and confirm whether there are any instant trip cancellations or schedule changes on our Current Announcements page. The use of İzmirim Kart is common for payments, but credit cards can also be easily used for vehicle crossings.
