About Bodrum Ferryboat (BFA)
As a top choice for those seeking a safe, fast, and comfortable journey across the blue waters of the Aegean Sea, Bodrum Ferryboat (BFA) boasts deep-rooted experience in the maritime sector dating back to 1985. Prioritizing passenger satisfaction and safety since its inception, the company stands out as the main operator of the Bodrum-Kos route. Acting as a maritime bridge between Bodrum, one of Turkey's most popular tourism hubs, and the Greek island of Kos, renowned for its historical and natural beauty, BFA safely transports tens of thousands of domestic and international tourists every year. Departures take place from Bodrum Cruise Port, known for its modern infrastructure and easy access, arriving at Kos Mandraki Port. While traveling accompanied by the unique views of the Aegean, you can experience one of the most delightful Greek Islands routes with the privilege of BFA.
Fleet and Vessels
Bodrum Ferryboat (BFA) continuously modernizes its fleet and maintains high standards for passengers who value their time. The company's fleet includes high-speed catamaran ferries well-known to sea enthusiasts, such as the Bodrum Express and BFA Princess. These modern catamarans stand out not only for their speed but also for the comfortable cruising experience they offer. Featuring a more stable structure against wave resistance compared to traditional ferries, these vessels reduce the distance between Bodrum and Kos to a short 30 to 45 minutes. Equipped with spacious seating areas, climate control systems, and essential amenities you might need during the voyage, the BFA fleet ensures you start your vacation effortlessly, enjoyably, and as quickly as possible.
Routes Served
The company's flagship route is the Bodrum - Kos line. Regularly scheduled every day during the peak summer season, the crossings continue every other day in the winter months, ensuring an uninterrupted connection between the two shores. Taking only 30-45 minutes, this pleasant journey is an excellent alternative for day trips to the island or long-term vacations. Bodrum Ferryboat (BFA) also operates Bodrum - Datça ferry services, connecting two beautiful Turkish holiday destinations by sea. Transforming the hours-long, winding road trip to Datça into a much shorter and more enjoyable glide across the Aegean waters, this route attracts great interest, especially during the summer. You can easily plan your trip by getting detailed information on current schedules and Ferry Prices.
Booking Process
The ticket purchasing and travel preparation process with Bodrum Ferryboat (BFA) is highly practical. Tickets are issued to a specific individual and are non-transferable. To avoid any issues on the day of travel, it is crucial to enter your ID and passport details accurately when booking. Since passport and customs procedures at the port can be busy, you must be present at the pier at least 1.5 hours before departure to complete your check-in. According to the baggage rules, each passenger is entitled to carry 1 standard suitcase and 1 additional handbag free of charge; extra luggage exceeding these limits is subject to a fee. Furthermore, passengers traveling as a single parent with children under 18 are required to present a notarized letter of consent to avoid complications at the border crossing.
Passport and Border Crossing
Having complete documentation is essential for a smooth border crossing when traveling abroad. To enter Greece, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your travel date and contain a biometric photo. Thanks to the Gate Visa program—a fantastic advantage for Turkish citizens—you can enter the island for visits to Kos of up to 15 days without needing to obtain a Schengen visa in advance. However, a standard Schengen visa application is mandatory for stays exceeding 15 days. EU citizens can travel comfortably with just their chipped ID cards or passports. Under customs regulations, passengers are allowed to bring a maximum of 2 liters of alcohol, 200 cigarettes, and 50 ml of perfume. For more comprehensive information on visa processes and border rules, you can review our Passport and Visa Guide page.
Cancellations, Refunds, and Adverse Weather
Due to international maritime and border crossing regulations, standard cancellations and refunds are not available for purchased ferry tickets. However, Bodrum Ferryboat (BFA) offers an open ticket option to provide flexibility for its passengers. If there is a change in your travel plans, you can convert your ticket to an open ticket or change the date up to 2 days (48 hours) before the departure time. In the event that sailings are canceled by port authorities due to adverse weather conditions (storms, strong winds, etc.) that occasionally occur in the Aegean Sea, passenger grievances are prevented. For official cancellations caused by adverse weather, your ticket fare is fully refunded to you without any deductions.
