Fleet and Vessels
Jalem Tur features a fleet structure suited to the dynamic weather and sea conditions of the Aegean Sea, maintaining passenger safety and comfort at the highest level. The company's flagship, Jalem Tur I, offers a pleasant cruising experience with its modern navigation systems, comfortable seating areas, and open deck. In addition to its own vessels, it guarantees voyage continuity by collaborating with partner ships during peak seasons and for varying demands. The ships are equipped with the basic amenities passengers might need throughout their journey, and all necessary maritime standards are meticulously applied so you can enjoy every moment of the short but delightful trip from Ayvalik to Lesvos.
Routes Served
Jalem Tur's main operation center and the sole route it serves is the Ayvalik - Lesvos (Mytilene) route, the most preferred route in the North Aegean. On this line, where cultural and touristic interaction between the two shores is most intense, the company aims to provide uninterrupted service throughout the year. Voyage times and frequencies are carefully planned according to seasonal demand. During the summer months, with increasing tourist demand, regular daily voyages are carried out, while in the winter months, voyages are organized 3 days a week. This flexible structure meets the needs of both day-trippers and commercial travelers. For detailed information on current schedules and ticket prices, you can visit our Ferry Prices page.
Ticket Purchasing Process
Ticket purchasing and check-in processes for your journeys with Jalem Tur are subject to international maritime rules. All purchased tickets are issued personally and cannot be transferred to third parties under any circumstances. There are also specific standards for the luggage you will carry during your trip. Each passenger is entitled to carry 1 standard-size suitcase and 1 additional handbag free of charge. Extra luggage exceeding these limits is subject to an additional fee. To avoid any disruptions on the day of travel, considering customs and passport control processes, you must be present at the Ayvalik pier and complete your check-in procedures at least 1.5 hours before the ship's departure time.
Passport and Border Crossing
International border rules apply to all sea crossings from Turkey to Greece. Before traveling, you must ensure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your travel date and that you have a biometric photograph with you. There is a "Gate Visa" application that provides great convenience for Turkish citizens crossing to Lesvos. Thanks to this application, you can stay on the island for up to 15 days without needing a Schengen visa. However, if your trip exceeds 15 days, a standard Schengen visa application is mandatory. European Union citizens can enter the island simply with their chipped ID cards or passports. For travel with children, if a child is traveling abroad with only one parent, it is a legal requirement to present a notarized letter of consent from the non-traveling parent. Additionally, please remember that according to customs rules, there is a limit of 2 liters of alcohol, 200 cigarettes, and 50 ml of perfume for products you can bring back to Turkey on your return. For comprehensive information on all visa processes and border rules, we strongly recommend reviewing our Passport and Visa Guide page.
Cancellations, Refunds, and Adverse Weather
Due to international maritime regulations, standard cancellation and refund processes cannot be applied to ferry tickets. However, Jalem Tur offers an open ticket option to provide flexibility for passengers with plan changes. If you inform the agency or ticket sales platform at least 2 days (48 hours) before your travel date, your ticket can be converted to an open ticket or the date can be changed. The only situation where the ticket fee is fully refunded without any deductions is if the voyage is canceled by official authorities due to adverse weather conditions or force majeure. In cases where storms or sea conditions jeopardize navigational safety, voyages are canceled, and passengers' ticket fees are fully refunded or transferred to the next voyage upon request.
