1. About Meander Travel
Founded in 1989, Meander Travel is a well-established maritime transport operator and tourism agency based in Kuşadası. Bringing its expertise in organizing Biblical and Ephesus tours to the maritime sector since its establishment, the company is today one of the key players in ferry services between Turkey and Greece. It is particularly known for its voyages across the Mycale Strait, one of the narrowest points between the mainland and the islands, where the distance drops to just 1.6 kilometers. Operating its central operations from the Kuşadası Port, a cruise terminal within walking distance of the city center, Meander Travel is committed to offering a safe, fast, and comfortable travel experience in the Aegean Sea.
2. Fleet and Vessels
Meander Travel conducts its operations in Aegean waters with modern, high-speed catamaran-type passenger ferries. The company's flagship vessels, Kuşadası Express and Meander Express, provide passengers with a smooth and fast crossing. These vessels focus exclusively on foot passenger transport, and vehicles are not accepted on standard voyages (special reservations by phone are required for vehicle crossings in exceptional cases). Prioritizing passenger comfort, vessel regulations allow each passenger to carry 1 standard suitcase and 1 additional piece of hand luggage. The catamarans' enclosed passenger lounges, climate control systems, and spacious seating areas make short island journeys highly enjoyable.
3. Routes Served
The company's main area of operation is maritime transport between Kuşadası and the island of Samos. Services are provided to two different ports on the Greek side: the island's capital and main port, Samos (Vathi) Port, and the popular summer destination Samos (Pythagorion) Port, located right next to the ancient city on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Meander Travel is the primary operator of the Kuşadası-Samos route; however, other operators such as Tilos Travel (with the Sea Star Rhodes vessel) also serve this line.
Journey times vary depending on the destination port. Kuşadası–Vathi crossings take an average of 30-40 minutes, while Kuşadası–Pythagorion crossings take approximately 60 minutes. During the summer season from April to October, daily departures from Kuşadası are scheduled around 08:00/08:15, with return trips from Samos between 16:00 and 18:15. During the winter season from November to March, voyages are scheduled every other day or 3-4 days a week. According to the current 2026 tariffs, adult one-way tickets are in the €37-39 range (approximately 1,480-1,560 TL), same-day round-trip tickets are €47, and open-return tickets on different days are €59 (approximately 1,880-2,360 TL). Discounted fares apply for children aged 2-11 (€27-29) and infants aged 0-2 (€5-10). For more detailed planning, you can review our Kuşadası–Samos Ferry Guide 2026 page.
4. Ticket Purchasing Process
Meander Travel ferry tickets are issued personally. In accordance with international maritime rules and customs regulations, purchased tickets cannot be transferred to third parties and cannot be canceled under standard procedures. However, an open ticket option is available for passengers seeking flexibility. Tickets with open status can be changed to a different date up to 2 days before the departure time via feribotseferleri.com.tr or by contacting agency representatives. During the ticketing process, passenger information must exactly match the details in the passport.
5. Passport and Border Crossing
Since Greece is a Schengen area country, Turkish citizens traveling to Samos with Meander Travel must have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of travel. A "Gate Visa" facility is offered for Turkish citizens who do not have a valid Schengen visa or a green passport. For this application, which allows a stay of up to 15 days, documents such as biometric photos, current bank statements, and hotel/ferry reservations must be submitted to the agency before travel. You can access complete information regarding border crossings and visa processes via our Passport and Visa Guide.
6. Cancellations, Refunds, and Adverse Weather
Passenger safety is always the top priority in maritime transport. In the event of adverse weather conditions, storms, or rough seas in the Aegean Sea, voyages may be canceled or their times changed by the decision of the Port Authority. Meander Travel ensures that passengers do not suffer any grievances when sailings are officially canceled due to adverse weather. In the event of cancellations caused by such force majeure, passengers are fully refunded without any deductions, or the ticket is transferred to the next available sailing free of charge upon the passenger's request.
