The dense fog that began affecting the Marmara Region, particularly Istanbul, yesterday evening turned into a white nightmare by morning. Şehir Hatları ferries in Istanbul are out of service. Sea Buses have also canceled their Bosphorus routes.
With ferries suspended, commuters who typically rely on maritime transport flocked to the bridges, causing severe gridlock.
The fog also left roads wet and slippery. Combined with heavy vehicle volume, traffic on bridge connection roads periodically ground to a halt. Flights at Atatürk Airport are experiencing delays. With visibility occasionally dropping below 300 meters, flights to Ankara have been postponed.

Accident on the Golden Horn Bridge
According to reports, an accident occurred around 05:00 on the Golden Horn Bridge, heading toward Edirne. Triggered by heavy fog and slippery road conditions, four cars with license plates 34 ZR 9522, 34 PMC 53, 34 TY 9720, and 06 BC 8595 collided.
Three people were injured in the crash, one of them seriously. Police teams temporarily closed the road to traffic upon arriving at the scene. The injured were transported to nearby hospitals by ambulance. After tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles, crews laid sand on the slippery asphalt and reopened the road to traffic.
The driver of one of the vehicles involved stated that visibility had severely decreased due to the dense fog, and in an attempt to avoid hitting a bumper piece on the road
