The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has announced, in a long-awaited decision, that it is reclaiming the operation of the İstinye-Çubuklu Car Ferry Line from Şehir Hatları and will reopen the line under its own management. With this significant development, the line is planned to be operated by IMM in the near future, and new fare tariffs for vehicle and passenger crossings have also been determined.
Operation Authority Transferred to IMM: Details
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has revoked the operating authority of the car ferry line between İstinye and Çubuklu, which was held by Şehir Hatları until March 14, 2041, and has taken direct control of the line's management. This decision by the IMM Council also nullified a previous decision to abolish the line, once again emphasizing the importance of its contribution to Istanbul's maritime transportation.
This strategic move will provide significant relief, especially for drivers wishing to cross the Istanbul Bosphorus with their vehicles. The İstinye-Çubuklu line offers an alternative route for Bosphorus crossings, with the potential to reduce urban traffic congestion and save time.
New Fare Tariffs Announced
According to the new tariff approved by the IMM Council, the crossing fees to be applied on the İstinye-Çubuklu Car Ferry Line have been determined as follows:
- Car: 220 TL
- Motorcycle: 100 TL
- Minibus and Small Bus: 320 TL
- Bicycle: Free
- Passengers: Will pay the standard ticket fare.
